Drop D Tuning
Drop D tuning means to drop your low E a whole
step to a D. This will allow us to play power chords by just holding
one finger across 2 or 3 strings. To do this play your 4th string
D. Let it ring and strike your low E and then tune it down to match
the open D but one octave lower. It should probably only be about
1/4 turn on most tuning pegs. You will get better and better just
by doing it a lot but you may want to buy a tuner
if you don't have one to check yourself.
Soloing
This is a fun riff to solo over. You can use
the D blues scale and any D minor pentatonic stuff. You can also
use A harmonic minor scale too.
